I came here 4 days in a row because the food was good, not too oily, and the atmosphere was calm and a respite from the power outages. The coffee is ok, smooth but a bit weak compared to other spots on the island. The hummus toast was tasty despite not being able to taste any hummus, it was more of a baba ghanoush toast, but was yummy nonetheless. The following 3 days both toasts (mushroom and hummus) were unavailable, leaving nothing savoury on the menu as a substantial meal with any filling protein for vegans. One of the previous days a waitress was apologetic, offering to customise a plate with beans and rice - it was basic but at least the beans were somewhat filling. On the fourth day when neither plant-based savoury options were available, and the waitress strictly refused to offer beans as a side. I was confused why they were suddenly unacommodating. I don’t care if it costed 150 pesos for a portion, I would have paid. This lack of critical thinking, inflexibility and service was a rude awakening, especially the defensive attitude she had throughout the interaction. This really soured my experience I’ve had with Amon, which was otherwise a really nice place.
