via GoogleGreat place to work with a cup of coffee and a slice of cake. Quiet environment. Long black is just RM6! Tried the Chocolate Royale and Nutella Crunch, and both were pretty decent. Good selection of cakes. There's also some simple food options.

via GoogleMadeline’s Cafe is located inside BookXcess at the Starling Mall. A good place for anyone who is looking for a quiet corner to indulge in reading. Perhaps the cafe can look into providing more comfortable chairs for customers. The chocolate cake was good and would like to visit again.

via Google✅ Reasonably priced for a rather filling carrot cake & tea (Combo package). ✅ Delicious cake options that one should not miss. ✅ Will return whenever I visit The Starling. Note: Only one staff is present handling everything, so let's consider organizing the plates and cups on the table after eating for easier collection 🙏. Suggestion: The combo promo package board needs to be bigger and placed outside or on the walls around the shop to attract more customers.

via GoogleThe café has a quiet and nice ambiance. Unfortunately, the experience was let down by the staff’s attitude, which left a sour taste. When we sat down with a single drink between two people, a staff member curtly directed us to the high seats - no explanation, no please, just a pointed remark: “2 person, 1 drink only? You take the high seats.” It felt less like a policy being communicated and more like a scolding. I get it, cafés need to sustain themselves, and a minimum order policy is completely reasonable. But there’s a respectful way to communicate that, especially when the place was far from full. A simple “Hi, just so you know, we do have a minimum one drink per person policy” would have gone a long way. Instead, the interaction felt dismissive and unwelcoming. Great atmosphere, but the hospitality needs work. I’d hope the management revisits how their team communicates house rules, transparency and basic civility cost nothing.

via GoogleMadelieine Café, nestled inside BookXcess at The Starling Mall, offers a cozy escape for book lovers and coffee enthusiasts. I ordered a flat white, which impressed with its strong, bold espresso flavor, perfectly balanced by a thin layer of silky-smooth microfoam — a real treat for coffee purists. The highlight, however, was the durian cheesecake. Rich, creamy, and unapologetically aromatic, it delivers the full durian experience without being overpowering. The set of coffee and cake is priced at MYR24.00, which I consider a steal. The café’s peaceful atmosphere, surrounded by shelves of books, makes it an ideal spot to relax, read, or work. The barista is a Pakistani who is extremely friendly. A must-visit for those seeking a unique dessert and quality brew in one stop.
