Pasaniyom Traditional Café

Awesome Lao style breakfast. We came here for the porridge at around 9.30 am but they had no more. We had the rice noodle anyway and it was amazing with distinct local flavors. We came back earlier the next day. The lady recognized us and gave us the porridge, but to be honest, I kinda preferred the rice noodle haha. Still that speaks a lot about their hospitality and great customer service. It’s super cheap and great value for money.

Fried dough used old cooking oil which smells unpleasant. Porriage served cold, however it has a portion of chicken, an average seasoned. Hot traditional Coffee was so-so. Overrated place.

A widely known breakfast place recommended by several locals. Prices were reasonable, eggs were great especially when dipping the fried doughsticks into the runny yolk. Coffee was overly sweet, tea was great.

The town's most well-known Lao breakfast. We got up early only to sample their porridge, which was packed with a lot of pork and egg and was particularly delicious if you paired it with long stick bread and added additional chilli. They also have excellent old-fashioned phin coffee. My friend stated it was okay for them, but I thought it was a little too sweet. Due of their large customer base, the service was a little slow.

December 2025: I am a Level 7 contributor (>400 reviews) on Google and regularly review eateries and experiences both in Asia and Melbourne. After a visit to the Luang Prabang morning market, I decided to check out the congee. I ordered a 20k KIP portion. The soup is flavoursome, but the ingredients could have been more substantial. There were small slices of mushroom and chicken. They ran out of fried doughnut fritters when I was there.
