The German bakery was fantastic when they opened and when the owners used to be there physically keeping an eye. Now… the staff gossip loudly in the cafe area, friends of staff come in, the kitchen staff come into the restaurant area and get into loud arguments with the other staff…. Terrible atmosphere. We were regular customers but we then only went on Sundays. Now we almost never go. We still order on uber…. But several occasions they have messed up our orders. We ask for chicken pancakes and repeatedly they send bacon. Greasy greasy bacon. Today was the last of this rubbish. Note to owners: don’t ruin a good thing entirely by bad staff attitude and handling

This is one of Colombo's hidden treasures. The staff from the front line staff to the owners are amazing. The best americanos and cappuccino's in Colombo. The food quality , service and atmosphere is amazing. As a regular customer i see many other regulars 4 to 5 times a week, 52 weeks a year. This is a true testament to the owners and especially the front line staff who always serve with smile.

Visited this place several times, mostly for breakfast. It's a nice cosy place with tasty breakfast, brunch, and lunch options, and German/German-inspired bakery items. The food is more or less good. Just a tad bit expensive, but given how a lot of places overcharge, you can leave the place satisfied after a meal. The coffee's not bad as well, with a good size. The staff are very courteous but tend to make mistakes with the order at times, so it's good to double check. They tend to get a little crowded since it's small, but tables were always available when we were there. They've got a kiddies' play area (bigger than the restaurant section)

My first time at The German Bakery was hands down a 10/10. To quote my sister “It’s really pancake heaven!” We had the ultimate pancakes (Chicken and bacon) with their delicious mustard sauce to go with. Just amazing!!!!!
