1802 Roasters

I tend to trust a cafe has a pour-over coffee menu or roast beans by itself. 1802 Roasters has both of them and it has a lot of bakery options as well. Its parking lot was not crowded and there were enough sitting areas inside as well. Absolutely the taste of the pour-over coffee was great!

Good morning everybody happy Sunday. First time going 1802 Roasters … small coffee shop in Cypress Park. There’s pastrami bagel really good fresh bagel, fresh pastrami. It was made perfect definitely going to go back again. My son gives it a big thumbs up. 👍 and their coffee is really good and their customer service is really good.

Walk in and enjoy some great coffee/espresso that is Roasted in-house with outrageously good bagels. They do have a variety of other pastries but their Saint- Raf bagels are exceptional and sell out quick.

This is a roaster/café with on-site bagels by Saint Raf. The two businesses are so well integrated together in the space that they should probably be merged on Google. Coffee: pretty good, not super pricey, not as incredible as other spots nearby. I really love their espresso tonics which are flavored with calamansi (the ‘island tonic’ is my go-to) Bagels: delicious and worth the trip. They are known for their ube bagels and fun cream cheeses, but they also have staples like a BEC and a lox sandwich. They are expensive and smaller than the ones at Belle’s although similarly heavenly. The lox sandwich costs $17 and is hard to justify for a quick breakfast despite all that wonderful dill. They also don’t seem to sell them to-go by the dozen. Pro tip: order your bagel not toasted. Not only will you be appeasing your inner New Yorker, but these bagels are already very crispy on the outside to start with. You want that soft interior, trust me. Atmosphere: pretty sizable space with a good amount of seating. A respite from the insanity across the street PARKING! There’s a parking lot. The owners even allow people to park there in the evenings until 10 (I think) if you Venmo them $5. That feels like the block’s best kept secret.

I just ordered the $16 egg + cheese sandwich and it came with a piece of paper in the middle left on the cheese. I was the only customer inside for the whole 15 mins I was there. When I went to show it to the person working at the counter they didn't offer to remake it, refund it, or to make me a drink or anything. Maybe this is me being entitled but basically my sandwich was ruined, and they just kind of shrugged and said sorry. If it was an $8-10 dollar breakfast sandwich I'd say ok whatever, but its just honestly an unreasonably expensive sandwich as it is. I could go to Belle's over on York and get the same thing with avocado for around $10. 1802 doesn't even have avocado to add which is kind of a bummer 😣 I'm sad to write this review because I honestly think the bagels here are some of the best I've had in LA, but the prices are a huge deterrent. Also I usually order drip coffee which they don't have, only more expensive pour over. I understand the overhead for a business like this must be pretty high, but maybe you'd get more business with some lower prices? + it feels funny to be the only person in this giant cafe at noon on a weekday. I don't really expect to go back after this.
