I've been a customer since 1986 when I first began studying tea (Urasenke). I bought my first Odogu there. I stumbled upon Seishou-en coming out of the West exit of Shinjuku when I lived in Japan for 10 years. I used to love browing the shelves and buying my needed and favorite items. When I came moved back to the U.S. (long before ebay, etc.), I had everything I needed to continue my study. Every time I return for a visit, I went to Seishou-en. It was my tea odogu home away from home. They always had what I needed and always were friendly and talked to me. I had so much fun to tell them the last time I visited that I was a 40-year international customer. Sure, I get odogu from other areas but for reasonable prices and to make sure you have everything, Seishou-en is the place to go. Also, for a bit of an authentic air, you can feel the history of the store as you enter yet, it is just to the right as you leave the west exit of Shinjuku. I learned so much from my early days there and still have the first bowl that I bought there, the first bowl that I ever bought!

I came here to find a teapot for my mom but ended up with many stuff like tea, matcha, teapots, candies. I traveled in Japan and visited many places but this is one of the most impressive stores that I will definitely come back next time. The staff and owner are super friendly and nice, gave me advice and instructions for Japanese tea making, wrapping paper is perfect. I'm in love with this place, the prices are reasonable too. I actually got lucky draw for free teapot and tea gifts. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for tea, tea accessories or souvenirs for your friends and family ❤️❤️
