As a photographer in the NYC art world I can honestly say this is the best art book store on the planet, Japan always delivers with premium experiences without being pretentious. This is one of them.

A Treasure Trove for Art and Music Lovers At the heart of SKAC is twelvebooks, a distributor boasting over 60,000 volumes , offering one of Tokyo’s most comprehensive selections of art, photography, and design books. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or a casual browser, the collection promises new discoveries at every turn. Adjacent to this literary haven is VDS (Vinyl Delivery Service), the Japanese flagship of the renowned London-based record shop. With a carefully curated selection of rare and vintage records from around the globe , VDS is a haven for audiophiles and music enthusiasts. A Café That Feels Like Home Need a break? TAWKS, the in-house café, offers a cozy retreat with its minimalist design and family-friendly atmosphere . Indulge in single-origin coffee or a fragrant chai while soaking in the creative energy that permeates the space. A Platform for Progressive Art SKAC isn’t just a place to observe art—it’s a place to experience it. From hosting the Forest Collection at PARK exhibition, which showcased sustainable Finnish furniture , to the REMARE Plastic SUMMIT Exhibition, focusing on innovative uses of recycled plastics , SKAC continually pushes the boundaries of contemporary art and design. A Community-Driven Vision The brainchild of architect Keisuke Nakamura and his team at DAIKEI MILLS, SKAC embodies a vision of accessible, community-oriented art spaces . Inspired by London’s Barbican Centre, Nakamura aimed to create a place where people could drop by without a specific agenda, simply to immerse themselves in creativity and culture. Plan Your Visit Located at 3-26-4 Nishikameari, Katsushika-ku, Tokyo, SKAC is open from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday through Sunday. An artist friend told me about this store, and I'm so glad I visited it! It's located a bit far from most Tokyo neighbourhoods, but it's well worth the trip! Fun music, random art pieces, and a HUGE selection of art books for you to browse, buy, and/or draw inspiration from. :) They also sell LPs - and don't forget to check out the second level!

Cool place. It's a one hour trip from the center of Tokyo but it's worth a visit. Nice selection of 2nd hand records.
